NJPW’s Jeff Cobb is leaving the promotion and is rumored to
be headed to WWE.

Cobb, who was the IWGP Tag Team champ with Callum Newman,
had the title stripped away from him and NJPW declared them
vacant. He will wrestle one final match in Japan against
Hiorshi Tanahashi on April 19.

“New Japan Pro-Wrestling has come to terms with the
departure of Jeff Cobb at his request. With Cobb one half of
the IWGP Tag team Champions, those titles have now been
vacated,” NJPW wrote on their website. “Cobb’s final match
in NJPW will take place in Korakuen Hall on April 19 against
Hiroshi Tanahashi. New Japan Pro-Wrestling profoundly
apologises for the sudden nature of this news and joins fans
in wishing Cobb the best in all his future endeavours.”

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported several weeks ago that
WWE was after Cobb and he was also interested in going.
