WRESTLEMANIA 40; Roman Reigns with record-breaking nine WrestleMania main events

Roman Reigns will make history tonight as he becomes the WWE
Superstar with the most WrestleMania main events ever.

After tonight’s match against Cody Rhodes is done and
dusted, Reigns will have a whopping nine WrestleMania main
events, and that is also after making history with Cody by
becoming the only two men to main event two nights of the
same WrestleMania.

Reigns tied Hulk Hogan last night with eight main events but
he didn’t have to wait another year to break that record.

His WrestleMania main event journey started at 31 in 2015 in
Santa Clara, headlining the show against Brock Lesnar.
Perhaps that event is mostly remembered for Seth Rollins
cashing in his MITB briefcase, pinning Reigns to win the WWE
title.

The next year at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas, Reigns won the
WWE title from Triple H and the following year at
WrestleMania 33, he closed the show with The Undertaker in a
no holds barred match. Reigns was the second person to
defeat Taker at WrestleMania after Brock Lesnar.

At WrestleMania 34, Reigns met Brock Lesnar again for the
Universal title and this time around, Lesnar retained the
championship. He returned to the main event spot at
WrestleMania 37 against Edge and Daniel Bryan and won that
match by double stacking his opponents in a controversial
move. WrestleMania 38 was round three with Brock Lesnar and
this time Reigns won and unified both championship titles.

Last year at WrestleMania 39 he denied Cody Rhodes from
finishing the story and yesterday night he teamed up with
his cousin The Rock to take on Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins
in a tag team match.

Tonight, Cody Rhodes goes for another round with The Tribal
Chief, hoping to inflict his first WrestleMania main event
loss since 2018.
