I'm putting this column out early given the real possibility Hurricane Sandy creating downed wires and no power, and as a result, no Internet.
Not to mention the fact it'll allow me to briefly go over what actually might be an historic moment tonight...as Vince McMahon gets a rare opportunity to make a star. The injury to and subsequent surgery of John Cena, has given WWE an opportunity to make a new star out of Ryan "Ryback" Reeves tonight, as he faces WWE champion C.M. Punk in a Hell in a Cell match.
No guess as to how this one will go. Conventional wisdom suggests Ryback wins tonight, then have Punk regain the title; as the eventual CM Punk-Rock match at Royal Rumble 2013 seems to have already been pencilled in.
Other matches include:
World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus defends against Big Show. Would almost expect to see a title change here.
WWE tag champions Daniel Bryan and Kane defend against the "Rhodes Scholars" of Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes. Bryan and Kane retain, since their characters are getting pushed so much.
Randy Orton vs. Alberto Del Rio. No particular feeling here.
IC champion Kofi Kingston defends against The Miz for the Intercontinental Title. My guess is that The Miz gets the belt back, and that the title change was to interest people in the new ION Network "Main Event' show
Divas champion Eve defends against Kaitlyn and Layla in a three-way match for the Divas Title. Probably a good time for those of us in the Northeast to check our gutters and make sure our windows are right.
