Well, here we go again...

Linda McMahon's running for the United States Senate in Connecticut (as if there was any doubt). This time, she's seeking the seat of the retiring Independent Senator Joseph Liebeman, of Parents Television Council board member fame. One can't blame Vince and Linda for wanting a little personal revenge there...I mean, here's a guy who was on the board of a rogue right-wing organization that tried to shut down their company. In the end, the PTC was forced to publicly admit that they'd lied about many of the claims against the WWF and pay over $1 million in settlement.

Now, back to wrestling....I have to wonder again if we'll get the direction of WWE changed to keep anything from looking the remotest bit controversial on WWE programming (aka "wrestling sanitized for your protection")...and go back to Fuzzy Bunny versus Sammy Squirrel...er, John Cena defeats the main event heel after turning into SuperCena type content and an end to the more realistic change of direction we've seen in recent months.

So who thinks we'll see again Linda McMahon campaign rallies dressed up as WWE Fan Appreciation events just before Republican primaries or general elections? Or WWE performers and staff trotted out at campaign events...merely, of course, as "interested citizens"?

Wonder if Vince will attempt to make longtime liberal Mick Foley keep his mouth shut about politics as a condition of his coming back to WWE, which everyone expects to happen soon, if it didn't happen at tonight's PPV (as this is written Sunday).

We'll see....as an official campaign announcement is expected this week.

On a happier note, Jim Cornette turned 50 this past week. Even though I`m 54 plus...can`t imagine Jim being 50 in anything but chronology. Got to meet Jim back in 1990 during Joel Goodhart related events, and kept in touch with him over the years, including WCW in Philadelphia and Baltimore...and of course, got lucky enough to go to two SMW Fanweeks, seeing oldtime wrestling back in areas where a helluva people still DID believe....all because Jim, Brian Hildebrand and the SMW staff organized these events.

Happy birthday, Jimmy...

Finally, the first organizing is going on for this year's Toys for Tots events at The Arena in Philadelphia. Arena management, as they have for the last seven years, has offered to possibly have the collections done at more events during the Holiday season than in the past. More news to come on that.

Combat Zone Wrestling has already agreed, as they have for the last years to do a Toys for Tots at Cage of Death 13 on Saturday, December 3. Cage of Death 13 will feature an international mix of Combat Zone Wrestling, Big Japan Pro Wrestling, K-DOJO, and Freedoms.

We're still waiting for word on whether CHIKARA will participate for their December 2 Joshi-Mania event.

For attending the events that wind up being organized this year, we ask that you please bring an unwrapped toy to the Asylum Arena; and donate it to the Toys for Tots program, who will have collection bins at the entrance of the Arena. The mission and goal of the Toys for Tots program is to collect new, unwrapped toys and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. Though a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope is delivered to less fortunate children that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.

Until next time...
