This coming weekend is the July 4th weekend, with yours truly heading out for some vacation over that week, and many promotions taking the weekend off.

The following weekend, however, will bring indy wrestling back with a roar with four major indy shows scheduled for that weekend in the New York/Philadelphia area. The matches listed below are those announced as of June 25. Please check the websites mentioned for updated lineups.

First, Ring of Honor debuts in Lake Grove, NY, on Friday, July 8th at the Sports Plus Entertainment Center (110 New Moriches Road, Lake Grove, NY with an 8:00 pm belltime.

  • AJ Styles vs. Jimmy Rave (with Prince Nana)

  • ROH Pure Champion Samoa Joe vs. James Gibson vs. Homicide vs. Austin Aries

  • ROH Tag Team Champions BJ Whitmer and Jimmy Jacobs defend against The Carnage Crew

    Directions

  • Northern State Parkway
    Take Northern State Parkway East to end. Continue on Route 347 (Nesconset Highway). At fork, bear left remaining on Route 347. Continue east past Rt. 25 Middle Country Rd, Smith Haven Mall will be on your right side. Turn right at traffic light just past Smith Haven Mall onto New Moriches Rd. Turn left at first light into entrance of Sports Plus.

  • From Manhattan
    Mid Town Tunnel to Long Island Expressway (I-495 East). Take Long Island Expressway to Exit 53 North (Sunken Meadow Parkway). Take Sunken Meadow Parkway approximately 1 mile to Northern State Parkway East (SM1). Take Northern State Parkway to end. Follow directions from Northern State.

  • From Westchester and Connecticut
    Whitestone or Throgs Neck Bridge to Cross Island Parkway South. Follow signs to Long Island/Long Island Expressway (I-495). Take Long Island Expressway East. Follow directions from Manhattan.

  • From Eastern Long Island
    Long Island Expressway (I-495) to Exit 58 North. Proceed on Old Nichols Road to end. At Stop sign, turn left onto Moriches Road. At second light, turn right onto Middle Country Road (Route 25). Make a left at first light onto New Moriches Road. At first light, turn right into entrance of Sports Plus.

    Then, on Saturday, July 9, Ring of Honor returns to New York with a 7:30 pm belltime at New Yorker Hotel on 34th Street and 8th Avenue in midtown Manhattan.

    By Car: The New Yorker Hotel is conveniently located in Midtown Manhattan on 34th Street and the corner of 8th Avenue, just across from Madison Square Garden and Penn Station and is the closest hotel to the Javits Convention Center.

    By subway:
    The New Yorker is easily accessible by New Yorkers via the the A, C and E trains (34th Street/Penn Station stop).

    The New Yorker is 2 blocks from the N, R, Q, B, F, and D trains (34th Street-Herald Square stop) and a one block walk from the 1, 2, 3, 9 trains (34th Street-Penn Station/7th Avenue stop).

    New Jersey Mass Transit

    The New Yorker is accessible directly via ALL NJ Transit commuter train lines (with the exception of the Bergen County and Raritan Valley lines, on which riders can transfer at via the Secaucus Transfer or Newark Penn Station). Go to NJ Transit.com for information.

    In Philadelphia, there's the second of the series of summer doubleheaders with Montreal's International Wrestling Syndicate and Combat Zone Wrestling. I'm even coming back from vacation a day early to see that one.

    International Wrestling Syndicate debuts at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia on Saturday, July 9 with a scheduled 2:00 pm belltime (doors open at 1:30 pm).

  • The main event...for the first time in IWS history...the Heavyweight Title will be defended in a steel cage
    Franky The Mobster takes on 3-time former WWF Tag Team Champion and former WWF Hardcore Champion PCO...Pierre Carl Ouellet

  • Sexxy Eddy takes on Evil Ninja and the Arsenal

  • The Career Killer, Kurt Lauderdale takes on the IWS Hardcore Hero, the Green Phantom

  • For the IWS Tag Team Titles...
    The Flying Hurricanes defend their IWS tag team titles against the Sultans of Smirk 2.0, Jagged and Shane Matthews

  • Viking vs. Damian

  • Dan Paysan will be facing off against the IWS technical wizard, Kid Kamikaze

  • Beef Wellington vs. Fred "La Merveille" Lauzon

    The event will take place before the CZW show at the same venue later that night. Tickets are available at the CZW ticket reservation site (select the July IWS show in the "Event Date" screen); and will be available at the door the day of the show.

    Ticket prices in advance when making online reservation only:

  • Front row for IWS Wrestling $35/$60 for both shows
  • Second row IWS and CZW $50/second row single show $30
  • Third and fourth rows IWS and CZW $40/third and fourth rows single show $25
  • General Admission IWS and CZW $35/General single show $20

    Full ticket prices will be enforced on the day of the show for each show if planning to attend both.

    CZW then returns that evening to the ECW Arena, as part of the Violent By Design, Act 2 of the Aggression Doubleheader Series with an approximate 7:30 pm belltime.

  • If Webb loses, he is in TOD.
  • If Eddy loses, he doesn't get a world title show for 6 months...
